Steppin’ Out Theatrical Productions is a not-for-profit theatre company based in York Region. The goal of Steppin’ Out is to provide professional-quality, family oriented and affordable theatre in York Region and the GTA. Steppin’ Out will be performing at the new Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts beginning in March 2009.

Steppin’ Out firmly believes in promoting talent in the community for the community. People of all ages will be given the opportunity to experience the magic of theatre by performing in a state of the art location. Steppin’ Out will encourage individuals to become involved in the productions as performers, musicians or as members of the production team. Leading the production teams will be experienced members of the theatre community who will create excellent and entertaining theatre for audiences of all ages.

Steppin’ Out Theatrical Productions was created by Brian Lee who believes that it is important to give back to the community that gave so much to him in his past endeavors. In recognition of community support, a percentage of the revenues of every season will be donated to a local charity.

BRIAN LEE (Artistic Director)

Brian Lee is the founder and Artistic Director of “Steppin’ Out Theatrical Productions”. Brian's numerable production credits include: Grease (Music Director), Into The Woods (Director), Sweeney Todd (Director) Children Will Listen- a fundraiser for a school for children with Autism (Producer/ Director), That’s Dancin’: A Tribute To Bob Fosse- a fundraiser for children living with HIV/ AIDS (Producer/ Director).

On stage he has performed in many shows. Favourite credits include: Footloose (Reverend Shaw Moore), The Wiz (The Wiz), The Wizard of Oz (Lion), Fiddler On The Roof (Tevye), Annie (Daddy Warbucks), Seussical: The Musical (Horton), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Pharaoh). Brian has trained with The Second City and has performed with the award winning Renanim Youth Choir as well as the Junno Award Winning team of Judy and David. Brian has also performed at several functions for the Canadian Cancer Society, and has directed and performed in fund raising galas for Eating Disorders of York Region.

Brian has studied voice with Elaine Overholt (How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?, Hairspray and Chicago) and is in the midst of recording his first album at Imagine Sound Studios with Mark Camilleri (Mamma Mia and Dirty Dancing).

In 2004, Brian was a recipient of a Celebration of the Arts bursary and also a recipient of the Markham Mayor’s Youth Task Force Youth Award. This year Brian was thrilled to receive the Canadian Youth Achievement Award from the Canadian government.

Brian is looking forward to bringing the magic of theatre to York Region and the GTA.
